How to get audio description on TV:

You can get audio-described TV with three different kinds of equipment:

  1. Sky satellite television: with a Sky satellite aerial and set-top box you can receive Sky programmes (there are various packages and subscription prices). This setup can receive Sky broadcasts, BBC terrestrial channels and Freeview channels. Check for special offers.
  2. A Freeview set-top box (currently the Netgem i-Player Plus), receives Freeview programmes in addition to the normal terrestrial analogue. Available for a one-off payment (currently (£99.99 + post and packing). This unit also connects you to the internet through your TV.
  3. A Nebula PCI card, currently £69.95, which fits inside a computer, or their USB 2.0 device, currently £69.95), which connects externally to a USB 2 slot, and enables your PC to receive Freeview in addition to the normal terrestrial analogue.

For a full explanation of how best to receive audio description on TV, both Freeview (Digital Terrestrial) and Sky satellite, visit Audio Description on Television.

I have been greatly helped by Clive Miller of RNIB who produces a day by day listing for all terrestrial channels. Here is a link to his listing. Thank you Clive.
There are some problems with the listings though: Clive's listing comes from the BBC, I believe, but there are variations in programmes for Scotland, and I have found discrepancies between the Radio Times as published in Scotland and the BBC Scotland online listings.

...you takes your choice: luckily you don't have to pay any money on this site.
